If you’re looking for a new home, you probably have a long wish list already. A certain number of bedrooms and bathrooms always make the top of the list. So does a state-of-the-art kitchen. Spacious garages are also important. But with spring in the air and summer approaching, it’s time to start think about the all-important question—what nearby restaurants have an outdoor patio?

Well, if your home search includes Fitchburg—and it certainly should—you’ll find not only an abundance of restaurants, but many with outdoor seating. From coffee shops to fine dining, Fitchburg restaurants appeal to hardy Wisconsinites who survive the winter for the sole purpose of enjoying summer to the fullest!

As you can see, Fitchburg and the surrounding area is definitely not short of good restaurants—and this list includes only the ones with outside seating! We’ve tried all of these (although not on the same day) and found some pretty great food. We know that you will too. When you get to the end of the list, you can tackle the others (maybe it will be cold out by then) or start over with your own favorites.

And… if you enjoy doing your own cooking or just want the option to spend a night at home, ask your Realtor to show you houses made for outdoor enjoyment. Backyards have come a long way over the past few decades. Decks and patios are still popular but now there’s so much more! From the earliest days of Weber charcoal grills, cooking out has advanced to gas grills, fire pits, pizza ovens and even “outdoor kitchens.”

And don’t let the enticement of a sunroom or three-season porch (both of which are great by the way) make you forget about the plain old screen porch. Screen porches—especially if they open directly off your kitchen or dining room—are a great way to enjoy outdoor dining all summer long. All without the worry that mosquitoes will be dining on you at the same time!
